Description
The Japan Foundation’s Exhibitions Abroad Support Program provides financial support to museums and art institutions outside Japan that organize exhibitions introducing Japanese art and culture to overseas audiences. It also supports international exhibitions abroad, including biennials and triennials, that present Japanese artists and their works. The program is administered by the Visual Arts Section of the Arts and Culture Department.
The grant forms part of the Foundation’s broader Arts and Cultural Exchange programs, which introduce Japanese arts and culture worldwide and promote networking and human resource development. Its exhibition focus includes museum presentations and international exhibition participation. The fiscal year 2025 guidelines also included exhibitions developed through artist-in-residence programs abroad, with clear concepts and concrete plans that expand networks among artists, curators, and researchers in Japan and overseas.
