This Horizon Europe Coordination and Support Action (CSA) funds the creation and strengthening of an EU-wide expert network on critical raw materials, as identified in the 2027 critical raw materials assessment. The action is designed to build a comprehensive expert community spanning the full value chain for each raw material, including primary and secondary resources, production, recycling, substitution, market analysis, supply/demand forecasting, risk management, standardisation, environmental and socio-economic analysis, and strategic value chains such as batteries, renewable energy, e-mobility, electronics, security, and aerospace.
The project will support EU policy-making, particularly the implementation of the Critical Raw Materials Act, by developing and updating data and knowledge bases, including fact sheets for all screened materials. Activities include organizing validation workshops, coordinating with the European Commission, and fostering cross-project cooperation and knowledge sharing. All data and information generated must be shared with the Commission free of charge.
