Description
Gilead Sciences’ Externally Sponsored Research program supports scientifically relevant research intended to contribute knowledge to the medical community and improve patients’ lives. It provides funding and/or study drug support for third-party work on Gilead products or therapeutic areas. Its scope includes virology and infectious diseases, solid-tumor oncology, and inflammatory and fibrotic diseases.
The two primary approaches are Investigator Initiated Research (IIR), independently initiated, designed and led, and Collaborative Research, in which Gilead may contribute to design, conduct, data or biological samples, analysis and publication preparation. The program also supports government-, nonprofit- and pharmaceutical-company-sponsored studies, along with research led by community organizations. Requests for proposals address unmet needs through innovative screening, diagnosis and care initiatives and research on disease epidemiology and treatment.
