Description
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Facilities Grant invests in facilities that support rural and small urban public transit services in Greater Minnesota. Its priorities, in order, are rehabilitation, expansion or renovation of existing transit facilities; construction or purchase of new facilities for changing operational needs; and construction or purchase of passenger amenities. Projects may include maintenance, storage and administrative facilities.
The program aims to help transit systems meet service needs while improving efficiency and productivity. Applicants develop a conceptual design and budget that connect the proposed facility to current or planned operations. Facility planning, design decisions, safety improvements and sustainability are considered in project scoring.
