Description
The Israel Institute’s Faculty Development Grants help faculty at U.S. and Canadian colleges and universities develop sustained teaching about Israel. Grants support entirely new Israel-focused courses as well as substantive new units within existing courses, in any discipline. Funded preparation can include research, travel to Israel, language study, or other activities conducive to developing and teaching course content.
The program emphasizes courses that become an ongoing part of university teaching rather than one-time offerings. Successful proposals connect the proposed development work to lasting course content and strong enrollments. Undergraduate offerings and courses taught by a single instructor receive priority. Course development outside Israel is eligible for lower funding levels, while maximum funding requires a new course and grant-supported travel to Israel.
