The Faculty Development Scheme (FDS) aims to strengthen the research capability of individual academic staff at local self-financing degree-awarding institutions in Hong Kong. The scheme funds research projects that contribute to academic development, inform teaching and learning, and foster the discovery of new knowledge. By supporting such projects, FDS encourages the integration of research experiences into educational practice and promotes faculty professional growth, including among junior academics.
