The Appalachian College Association (ACA) Faculty Fellowship Program supports professional development for faculty at its member institutions through a competitive review process. Open to all academic disciplines, the program funds post-doctoral research and pre-doctoral progress toward completing a terminal degree. Three fellowship options provide time for this work during a summer, a semester, or a full academic year.
Semester Professional Leave Fellowships support professional leave or sabbaticals; Summer Research Fellowships support summer research; and In-Year Research Fellowships support release from standard institutional duties. Proposals should explain the project’s importance to the applicant, home institution, and academic discipline, including its contribution to broader disciplinary knowledge. Research may inform course development, but proposals primarily intended to develop courses are discouraged.
