Description
The Faculty Opportunity Awards (FOA), administered by UNLV’s Division of Research, support initial studies that strengthen competitive external funding proposals. The program welcomes all disciplines through Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; STEM; and Health categories. Its goal is to establish or expand expertise that leads to sustainable support from extramural agencies, private foundations, and industry partners.
Individual investigators and collaborative teams may pursue pilot projects, preliminary data generation, grant writing support, and knowledge building. Projects may establish new research directions or pivot toward emerging funding priorities, including opportunities such as NIH R01 and NSF CAREER awards. The primary outcome is external proposal submission during the 24-month performance period; manuscripts and creative works may be secondary deliverables.
