The Faculty Opportunity Awards (FOA) at the University of Nevada Las Vegas are designed to provide seed funding to faculty and collaborative teams across all disciplines—including Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, STEM, and Health—to initiate research or creative projects that will lead to competitive external funding proposals. The program’s primary aim is to stimulate innovative, sustainable research and creative activity, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhance the competitiveness of UNLV faculty in securing extramural funding. Projects funded by FOA are expected to generate preliminary data, develop or expand areas of expertise, and submit at least two external grant proposals within a 24-month period.
