Description
North Carolina Space Grant’s Faculty Research Engagement Grant supports emerging and established faculty researchers whose work aligns with one or more NASA Directorates and meaningfully involves undergraduate and/or graduate students. The program prioritizes scientific and technical merit, substantive student research engagement, and preparation for the workforce. North Carolina Space Grant is part of NASA’s National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program and is administered through North Carolina State University.
The program supports a breadth of NASA-relevant research. Artificial intelligence is an optional focus, not a requirement for competitiveness. AI-related interests include developing a skilled workforce for NASA and industry needs in mission planning, human spaceflight, and Artemis execution. Examples include spacecraft mission planning, autonomous driving and sampling, predictive modeling for space weather, and large language models for astrophysics.
