The Faculty Research Travel Fund (FRTF) at Western Michigan University provides financial support for board-appointed faculty members to travel to professional meetings or conferences for the purpose of presenting original or applied research, or exhibiting/performing creative works. This initiative is managed by the Office of Research and Innovation and is aimed at enhancing the dissemination of the university’s scholarly and creative output.
Eligible travel includes in-person or virtual presentations at professional forums, with the intent of reporting research findings or showcasing creative accomplishments. The fund does not support travel for non-presenting roles such as panel chairing, board membership, or moderating/commentating without a presentation.
