Description
The North Carolina Family Planning Program funds clinical and educational services to improve pregnancy intendedness across the state. Administered by the Reproductive Health Branch within NCDHHS’s Division of Public Health, Women, Infant, and Community Wellness Section, it supports client-centered, high-quality, affordable, confidential, and voluntary reproductive care, prioritizing low-income individuals.
Funded services include education and counseling, physical examinations, laboratory testing, basic infertility services, breast and cervical cancer screening, and STI and HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and referral. Care also includes pregnancy diagnosis and counseling, exploration of pregnancy intentions, support for achieving pregnancy, preconception counseling, contraceptive education, and emergency contraception. Program priorities include reproductive goals counseling, body and health literacy, and quality improvement informed by local program data and patient experience.
