Description
The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS), within the Ohio Department of Public Safety, administers federal Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) funding originating from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program supports establishing, maintaining, and expanding community-based violence prevention, immediate shelter, and related assistance.
Supported work includes shelter operations, safety planning, counseling, peer support, advocacy, case management, referrals, transportation, child care, employment assistance, economic empowerment, and help securing safe housing. Priorities include specialized services for children exposed to violence, underserved populations, and racial and ethnic minority populations, alongside culturally and linguistically appropriate services. Programs must measure survivors’ increased safety strategies and knowledge of community resources.
