Description
The Connecticut Department of Agriculture’s Restoration, Resiliency & Preparedness Grant supports farmland restoration, climate-smart practices, and preparation for extreme weather. The 2027 round provides selected farms with a Farmland Restoration and Climate Resiliency (FRCR) Plan developed by a department-assigned, department-funded soil scientist. Applicants may request a plan alone or a plan plus matching funds to implement recommended practices. Plans consider the whole farm and identify projects for the next five to ten years.
Supported priorities include soil health, irrigation and water management, silvopasture and livestock grazing, and climate-responsive capital improvements such as rainwater harvesting, composting systems, hydroponics/aquaponics, wells, and fencing. Plans must address restoration, USDA climate-smart practices, increased resilience, and reduced vulnerability to extreme weather. This funding round is not a response to a specific climate event.
