Description
The Nebraska Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCDD), within DHHS’s Division of Public Health, administers this federal subaward to strengthen self-advocacy, community inclusion, and self-direction. Projects advance advocacy, leadership, and information access under the Council’s 2027–2031 State Plan. Priorities include organizations led by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, self-advocacy groups for transition-age youth (ages 14–21), peer-led training, and participation in cross-disability and culturally diverse coalitions.
Supported activities may include statewide leadership gatherings, advocacy training presented or co-presented by self-advocates, local community events, and high-school partnerships. Projects may also collect personal stories, develop handbooks or training curricula, and recommend process or systems improvements. Meaningful involvement of people with disabilities in planning and delivery, broader community participation, and sustaining activities after funding ends are central to project fit.
