Description
The Washington State Department of Commerce’s Multifamily Housing Unit administers this opportunity for new affordable multifamily rental projects. Federal HOME or National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) funding can support new construction, acquisition, or both. Each award uses one of the two federal programs, not a combination of HOME and NHTF, and may also be combined with state Housing Trust Fund money.
The funding aims to expand and maintain decent, safe, sanitary, accessible, and affordable rental housing for lower-income households. It also advances Washington’s 2025–2029 Consolidated Plan goals of building nonprofit housing providers’ capacity, strengthening state and local governments’ ability to provide housing, and leveraging private-sector participation.
