The Fellows’ Fellowship is part of the Newberry Library’s Short-Term Fellowship program in Chicago. It supports scholars who need to investigate specific items in the library’s collections through a focused research residency. Applicants may work in any field, provided they demonstrate that Newberry materials are essential to their project. The broader fellowship program primarily funds humanities-centered research, especially work using archival and rare book holdings.
Supported by the Newberry’s community of fellowship alumni, this fellowship provides one month for intensive collection-based research and engagement with the library’s scholarly community. Applicants submit a general Short-Term Fellowship application rather than applying separately for this named award. Successful applicants are matched with applicable donor- or partner-supported fellowship funds during award distribution.
