Description
The Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI) offers visiting fellowships that bring researchers from Austria and abroad to Vienna. Its annually advertised programme includes Senior, Research, and Junior Fellowships and promotes dialogue between younger researchers and experienced scholars. The institute’s research focuses on the Holocaust in its European context, including its antecedents and aftermath, alongside the study and documentation of antisemitism, racism, and nationalism.
The 2027/28 call particularly encourages Digital Humanities researchers working on Holocaust-related topics. Projects must address VWI’s research interests, but applicants may choose their own questions, approaches, and methodologies. The programme values diversity of regional backgrounds, disciplines, and methods. Fellows develop their work through scholarly exchange, contribute to the institute’s research activities, and share findings through discussions, public presentations, and publications.
