Artist Trust’s Fellowship Awards are prestigious, merit-based grants providing unrestricted support to practicing professional artists residing in Washington State. Established in 1987, these fellowships honor artists of exceptional talent and dedication across all disciplines—including literary, media, performing, and visual arts. Each year, at least eight artists are selected, with the number of awards often exceeding this minimum. The program also features several named fellowships to promote diversity and inclusion, such as awards for Black artists, Trans* and Indigiqueer artists, Native artists, and visual artists, each with additional eligibility criteria. The awards are intended to recognize artistic excellence and to support recipients in furthering their creative practices.
