Description
The New Foundation for Art History (NFAH) offers two distinct fellowship programs for the 2027–2028 cycle, designed to support innovative research in art history and address systemic inequities in the field. The fellowships are:
- Non-Residential Fellowships: For mid-career, tenure-track assistant and associate professors at U.S. institutions, these year-long, non-residential awards enable ambitious research projects—particularly book projects—on any era or culture of art. Preference is given to scholars at public or smaller private institutions with limited research leave resources.
- Contingent Faculty Fellowships: These multi-year awards are tailored for adjunct and non-tenure-track faculty, providing support for summer research over two or three years. The goal is to help advance research and publication for career progression, with a focus on addressing the unique challenges faced by contingent faculty.
Both programs emphasize intellectual merit, professional need, and the promotion of diversity within art history.
