The Field Museum’s Science and Scholarship Funding Committee offers Science Visiting Scholarships for short-term, collection-based research. Call 7 supports visits in 2027, giving scholars hands-on access to natural history specimens, research facilities, and collaboration with Museum scientists. Successful candidates lead independent or interdisciplinary projects under the guidance of one or more Field Museum scientists.
The program seeks innovative research using the collections, including exploration of under-studied specimens, new findings from existing collections, and reinterpretation of historic material. Projects may also advance the Museum’s scientific resources through collection development, conservation, or collaborative initiatives. Visits aim to foster new ideas, publications, professional connections, and tangible outputs such as datasets, collaborations, and outreach activities.
