The Fight for Sight / Aniridia Network Small Grant Award funds pilot research into congenital aniridia and sight loss to support future breakthroughs in vision science.
Funder: Fight for Sight
Due Dates: September 7, 2026 | November 2, 2026
Funding Amounts: Up to £15,000 for 12 months per award.
Summary: Supports early-stage research on congenital aniridia and sight loss, enabling pilot data collection to strengthen future funding applications.
Key Information: Applications must be led by UK-based researchers; only one submission per lead applicant.
The Fight for Sight / Aniridia Network Small Grant Award funds pilot or preliminary studies focused on congenital aniridia and its associated visual impairment or sight loss. The award is designed to help researchers generate data that can underpin larger, follow-on funding applications. Projects must align with both Fight for Sight’s research priorities (understanding, prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of eye disease and sight loss) and any specific priorities set by the Aniridia Network. This scheme aims to build capacity in vision research, especially in rare disease areas, by supporting early-career researchers, new investigators, those new to vision research, and researchers returning from a career break.
