Description
The North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Film and Entertainment Grant Program encourages production in North Carolina and development of the state’s filmmaking industry. It provides rebates to production companies for qualifying in-state expenses associated with feature-length films, television series, made-for-television movies, productions intended for online distribution, and commercials. Awards are made at the discretion of the Secretary of Commerce.
The program prioritizes productions expected to maximize benefits to North Carolina, including resident employment, visitor interest in recognizable locations, permanent property improvements, and activity in economically distressed areas. The N.C. Film Office serves as a liaison between applicants and Commerce and assists productions with locations, services, and coordination with regional film commissions.
