Description
The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VT DEC), part of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, provides technical and financial assistance for projects to redevelop contaminated properties in Vermont. Funding may support Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, corrective action planning and implementation, and area-wide planning. The assistance helps projects investigate contamination, plan a response, and move toward cleanup and reuse.
VT DEC pays for work it approves, which is performed by pre-qualified contractors. The department describes its brownfields funding as gap funding: it may not be able to support an applicant’s entire request.
