Description
The Firearms and Archery Range Recreation Program funds land acquisition, development, and renovation of firearm ranges and archery training and practice facilities in Washington. The Legislature created the program in 1990 to address needs identified by law enforcement, sports groups, and the public. The Recreation and Conservation Funding Board administers it with support from the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO).
Projects may build or improve indoor and outdoor ranges, archery courses, and related facilities. Examples include shooting courses and equipment, clubhouses, fencing, berms, safety baffles, and noise controls. The program also supports improvements tied to range management, environmental protection, and accessibility. Its goal is to expand public access to ranges, including access for law enforcement and people in firearm or hunter safety classes.
