Description
The Firewise Community Grants program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), provides funding to help Minnesota communities reduce wildfire risks. Grants support the development of Community Wildfire Preparedness Plans (CWPPs) and implementation of wildfire hazard mitigation activities. The program aims to enhance local wildfire resilience, focusing on creating defensible spaces, improving safe access in the wildland-urban interface, and fostering collaboration, planning, and public education. Funding is competitive, with priority given to communities at high wildfire risk and those developing new CWPPs or seeking Firewise USA® recognition.
