The Neurological Foundation’s First Fellowships provide personal support for outstanding early-career researchers completing their first postdoctoral fellowship at an institution in New Zealand. Fellows work under the close mentorship of an academic with a continuing position, developing research skills and experience with support from the host institution’s facilities, resources and research environment.
The programme supports research contributing to understanding, prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment or management of diseases and disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Proposals should identify a clear outcome that adds to knowledge about neurological disorders. The Foundation values potential advances in the field, benefits for people affected by neurological conditions, and neuroscience capacity-building through training and collaboration. Research into the pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric and neuropsychological disorders is eligible, but work dealing only with mental health disorder management is excluded.
