    Description

The Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program (WCPP), administered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) within the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), supports projects that improve motorist safety by reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions and, in doing so, improve habitat connectivity for terrestrial and aquatic species. Both construction and non-construction projects are eligible, although DOT may prioritize construction awards.

This opportunity provides FY 2026 funding and replaces the earlier multi-year notice with the final application period for FY 2026 funds. The program seeks greater adoption of wildlife-vehicle safety countermeasures, with priorities including core infrastructure, economic competitiveness, benefits for American families, and innovation. At least 60% of each fiscal year's funds must be awarded to rural areas.
