Description
The Fjällräven Field Grant is a partnership between The Explorers Club and Swedish outdoor gear and clothing company Fjällräven. It promotes excellence in field exploration through scientific research, supporting graduate and post-graduate students and early-career scientists conducting natural science fieldwork. Conservation, education, community, and preserving the instinct to explore are the program’s guiding principles.
The grant supports exploration and research that improve understanding of the environment, a changing climate, and the interconnectivity of wildlife and civilizations around the planet. Supported work spans Arctic biodiversity, permafrost risks assessed with Indigenous communities, threatened whale feeding habitats, old-growth forest detection, and human-wildlife conflict.
