Description
Established under Missouri’s 2023 Flood Resiliency Act, the Flood Resiliency Improvement Fund supports projects that increase flood resiliency along the Missouri and Mississippi rivers and their tributaries, or improve flood forecasting and monitoring statewide. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Water Resources Center administers the program and may work with a promoter and its partners or initiate a state-promoted project.
Support can cover planning, design, construction, renovation, studies, and activities that inform flood resiliency measures. Examples include levee improvements, road raises, floodproofing, replacement of undersized culverts and drainage structures, emergency action plans, and stream gages. Projects are intended to address a long-term flood mitigation need and provide long-term resilience.
