Description
The Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) is a competitive, reimbursement grant program administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Land and Recreation Grants Section. It funds land acquisition, development or renovation of outdoor recreation sites, and construction or renovation of public recreational trails. The program supports sites and facilities for the use and benefit of the general public, rather than research or scientific work.
Applications are evaluated under Administrative Rule 62D-5. Eligible projects receive competitive scores, which DEP uses to prepare a recommended priority list for legislative funding consideration. Evaluation considers recreation planning, public participation, operational capacity, partnerships, facility needs, and project-specific development, acquisition, or trail priorities. Awards depend on appropriations by the Florida Legislature.
