Description
Administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), this program provides financial assistance to retail fuel facilities for installing or upgrading transfer switch infrastructure. The improvements enable stations to operate fuel pumps, dispensing equipment, life safety systems, and payment systems using alternate generated power when the electrical grid is down.
The program aims to maintain fuel availability during power outages and support emergency operations. Applications are prioritized for locations on designated evacuation routes and facilities with greater fueling capacity. Evaluation also considers transfer switch availability at other retail fuel facilities, including nearby stations, and whether an applicant has an on-site generator or a contract for generator delivery within 24 hours.
