Description
The Florida Space Research Program is jointly funded by the Florida Space Grant Consortium (FSGC) and Space Florida to expand and diversify Florida’s aerospace economy. Its competitive matching grants support statewide academic involvement in space research, technology development, engineering, education, and workforce training, with an emphasis on student research experiences and faculty-led projects.
Projects must align with NASA Mission Directorate priorities and Florida’s space industry needs. The program seeks work that positions investigators for larger federal or industry awards, leverages additional funding, develops commercially promising technologies, advances emerging aerospace capabilities, or addresses workforce needs. Projects may include exploration, scientific discovery, spaceflight systems, enabling technologies, and dual-use technologies with terrestrial applications. Partnerships with industry, nonprofits, and federal agencies are strongly encouraged, as is appropriate K–12 collaboration.
