Description
The Florida Work Experience Program (FWEP), administered by the Florida Department of Education Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA), is a need-based, self-help program connecting eligible Florida students with paid work experiences. Employment is intended to complement students’ educational programs and reinforce their career goals. On-campus employment may also serve as a student retention tool.
The program operates through participating colleges, universities, Florida College System institutions, district-school-board-operated career centers, charter technical career centers, and educator preparation institutes. Each institution determines its application procedures, student eligibility, weekly work hours, and award amounts. FWEP is governed by Section 1009.77, Florida Statutes, and State Board of Education Rule 6A-20.038.
