    Description

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) offers the 2026 Community Public Water System Fluoridation Equipment Competitive Grant Program through its Drinking Water Protection Section. The program reimburses eligible systems for purchasing and installing fluoridation process equipment or ion-selective electrode analysis devices, helping communities optimize drinking water fluoridation.

The program aims to assist systems that lack resources to update fluoridation infrastructure consistent with federal and state requirements. It supports the recommended optimal fluoride level of 0.7 milligrams per liter (mg/L). Community water fluoridation helps prevent tooth decay regardless of residents’ income or access to dental care. Funding comes through a federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant supporting Minnesota actions to improve oral health outcomes.
