Description
The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine runs this initiative to help promising NIH R01 or equivalent proposals cross the funding threshold. It supports limited work on one or two specific weaknesses that drove a proposal’s review score, with an emphasis on evidence that directly addresses reviewers’ concerns about the proposed approach.
Supported work may include focused experiments, new reagents, innovative techniques, and other proof-of-principle efforts. Examples include demonstrating an assay or method, creating a genetically engineered mouse model, or establishing the feasibility of a disease model. The supplement is not intended to maintain general laboratory operations, broadly expand the proposal, or develop entirely new aims.
