Description
The NIFA-BARD-IIA Food and Nutrition program supports joint research by American and Israeli scientists in authorized research centers, working with an Israeli company to develop innovative food and nutrition technologies. Run through the United States–Israel Binational Agricultural Research and Development Fund (BARD), the program prioritizes improving food and nutrition, increasing the variety and availability of food, and supporting healthy consumption.
The collaboration must enhance an ongoing USDA NIFA-funded project while advancing agriculture in Israel. U.S. and Israeli researchers are funded separately, but meaningful binational collaboration remains an explicit evaluation criterion. Both countries’ research teams follow NIFA-BARD guidelines, while the Israeli research group also follows Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) guidelines.
