Description
Arkansas Community Foundation’s Food Security focus aims to reduce food insecurity and increase the number of Arkansans with consistent, secure access to healthy food. Its approach recognizes that food security depends on a strong, resilient food system—not simply getting food to people. Statewide Access to Local Foods Grants have supported organizations making fresh, locally grown and produced foods more accessible while strengthening local food systems.
The foundation offers occasional statewide grants through its central office and locally managed Food Security opportunities through participating affiliates’ Giving Tree applications. Local proposals should improve food access, nutrition, affordability, safety, or client-centered services. Supported work has included vacant-lot farming, a Jefferson County Food Farmacy pilot, a Clarksville food hub, and foodbank and community programs.
