The Ford Program in Human Development Studies and Solidarity, within Notre Dame’s Kellogg Institute for International Studies, supports summer and academic-year research across disciplines. Its mission is to promote Integral Human Development—a holistic model of flourishing rooted in human dignity and the full potential of each person—with a geographical focus on low- and middle-income countries.
Funding supports exploration of new research ideas, co-funding of ongoing projects, and dissemination activities for advanced projects. The program values long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with local communities, alongside scholarly publication and prospects for external funding. Each proposal must include a community deliverable, such as a technical report for a partner organization, a policy brief, capacity-building training, or a report for local or national government.
