Forecast Public Art’s Mid-Career Project Grants support artist-initiated public artwork anywhere in Minnesota, with funding from the McKnight Foundation. Projects may be temporary or permanent and use any discipline, including performance, dance, storytelling, photography, film, sculpture, and painting. Work may take place on public or private property, but must be free and accessible to all members of a community. Artists bring their own ideas rather than responding to a predetermined site, theme, or commission.
The program supports artistic development, innovation, deepened practice, and growth in public art. Community benefit is central and may include enjoyment, beautification, civic engagement, meeting a need, or meaningful collaboration. Forecast seeks to fund new work that would be difficult to support through other means while helping artists expand their skills, range, and recognition.
