Description
The program offers Maryland landowners significant property tax savings as an incentive to conserve and sustainably manage private forestland. By entering a Forest Conservation and Management Agreement (FCMA) with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), participants commit to a minimum 15-year stewardship plan for eligible forest acreage. In return, the property is assessed at a substantially reduced, fixed rate for the agreement term, supporting forest preservation, wildlife habitat, water quality, and rural economies.
