Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) offers Forest Fire Protection grants to expand the role of local fire services in forest fire control and strengthen the agency’s initial-attack suppression capacity. The program supports Wisconsin fire departments and county or area fire associations.
Priorities include wildland-standard personal protective equipment, forest fire training, prevention and wildland–urban interface work, suppression tools and supplies, communications equipment, and mapping and GPS resources. It also supports components for new dry hydrants and their installation. Off-road vehicles used primarily for forest fire suppression are a priority for individual fire department applicants.
