Key Information: Consortia need three independent legal entities from three participating EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries, including two EU-funding-eligible countries.
Description
FORESTPathways is the first Joint Call of the European FOREST Partnership, bringing together 36 research funding organisations from 27 countries. Presented in Finland by the Research Council of Finland, it supports collaborative research and innovation across forests, forestry and the forest-based sector. The call aims to generate knowledge, innovations and international collaborations for resilient forests and sustainable, competitive forest-based futures.
Proposals may address fundamental or applied research, field experimentation and innovation, without a prescribed balance between them. Cross-disciplinary, cross-sector and cross-cutting work is encouraged where relevant. Research is not restricted to European forest types: tropical, urban and peri-urban forests, agroforestry, remote sensing and forest monitoring can fit where they address the call’s objectives. Governance, policy, institutional and socio-economic research is also within scope.
The four research topics are:
- Climate-Resilient Forest Systems.
- Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems.
- Timber and Innovative Wood-Based Products.
- Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance.
