Key Information: Projects need 3–10 partners, at least half from the business sector and at least one research organisation.
Description
Formas, the Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development, funds business-oriented research through this call under the national research programme for food. It seeks projects that use scientific methods and close collaboration between academia and industry to address long-term challenges involving external inputs across the Swedish food chain. The intended outcomes include stronger resilience, innovation and competitiveness, alongside benefits for consumers and society.
Projects may develop more sustainable domestic production of inputs such as feed, fertilisers and packaging; reduce input use; or test processes and business models using by-products and waste streams. Research may also examine secure access to inputs across Sweden and trade-offs between self-sufficiency and sustainability. Research into energy sources and systems is outside the call’s scope.
