Description
The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (Strålsäkerhetsmyndigheten, SSM) anticipates a call for research funding in April 2027 for projects in radiation safety and nuclear non-proliferation. The program supports research in areas such as new and existing nuclear power, radioactive waste management, reactor safety, radiation protection (including medical and environmental aspects), and the societal aspects of nuclear activities.
Four main funding streams are available:
- Competence for new nuclear power (e.g., SMR, safety, non-proliferation)
- Safety and non-proliferation for existing nuclear power
- Management and disposal of nuclear waste (including decommissioning)
- Other radiation safety topics (including non-nuclear applications)
SSM prioritizes research that strengthens national expertise, develops new methods and knowledge, and supports its regulatory and licensing activities. Interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations are encouraged.
