The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation’s Frank R. Kleffner Lifetime Clinical Career Award honors outstanding contributions to communication sciences and disorders. Rather than funding a new project, it recognizes a career of promoting clinical excellence through clinical service, supervision or administration of clinical service, clinical research, or other activities.
Selection focuses on specific contributions that significantly affected recipients of services and altered or accelerated the quality of clinical care in audiology and/or speech-language pathology. The award honors Frank R. Kleffner, a former president of both the ASHFoundation and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), who worked throughout his lifetime to expand and professionalize the foundation’s charitable goals.
