--- ## Description The Franklin Research Grants program, offered by the American Philosophical Society, provides short-term funding to support scholars conducting original research in all areas of knowledge. The program is intended to help cover costs associated with travel to libraries and archives, fieldwork, laboratory research, or the acquisition of research materials essential for scholarly inquiry. Grants are designed for noncommercial research and do not support conference attendance, publication costs, salaries, living expenses at home, hiring consultants or research assistants, or the purchase of permanent equipment. The program is especially interested in supporting early-career scholars, though all proposals are evaluated on merit. --- ## Due Dates - **October 1, 2025:** Deadline for Franklin Research Grant applications and two letters of support (for projects beginning February 2026–January 2027). Also the deadline for consideration for the APS/British Academy Fellowship and ATBL Fellowship. - **December 1, 2025:** Second deadline for Franklin Research Grant applications and two letters of support (for projects beginning April 2026–January 2027).
