Key Information: Organizations must identify potential plan authors and commit to developing at least 10 FRCR Plans.
The Connecticut Department of Agriculture’s FRCR Plan Developer Grant funds organizations to work directly with agricultural producers across Connecticut. Awards support producer outreach, technical assistance, and compensation for soil scientists or comparable professionals who develop Farmland Restoration and Climate Resiliency (FRCR) Plans. Each plan takes a whole-farm approach to restoration and resilience over five to ten years.
Plans must address farmland restoration, USDA-identified climate-smart practices, increased climate resiliency, and reduced vulnerability to extreme weather. Planning priorities include soil health, irrigation and water management, silvopasture and livestock grazing, and related capital improvements. The program aims to increase the number of farms with FRCR Plans, expanding eligibility for the separate Restoration, Climate Resiliency and Preparedness (RRP) Grant.
