Description
The French Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) and the German Research Foundation (DFG) jointly support bilateral research in the natural, life and engineering sciences. The programme seeks innovative projects that stand out from ongoing national research, demonstrate genuine integration between French and German teams, and offer clear added value through international cooperation. Partners should jointly define objectives and share skills, tasks, risks and results.
For the 2027 call, ANR is the lead agency, handling submission and scientific evaluation under its International Collaborative Research Projects instrument (PRCI). German applicants participate through the DFG Research Grants Programme. Each agency funds its own country’s teams, and both must approve a project for funding. Research centred on social sciences or humanities belongs in a separate ANR-DFG call.
