Description
The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). It helps participating elementary schools introduce children to a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables as free, healthy snacks. Schools serve produce during the school day, outside breakfast and lunch service, to all enrolled elementary students present at the time.
Funding supports fresh produce, necessary serving supplies, and labor to prepare and serve snacks. It may also cover administrative labor and approved equipment needed to operate the program. Schools with the highest free- and reduced-price meal enrollment receive priority.
