Description
The New Jersey Wetlands Mitigation Council seeks proposals to create, restore, or enhance wetlands dominated by tidal wetlands and including intertidal-subtidal shallows components. Projects must be in the Atlantic Region—Watershed Management Areas 12 through 16—and provide compensatory mitigation for impacts to intertidal-subtidal shallows. The Council administers New Jersey’s In Lieu Fee program, which provides mitigation credits for unavoidable impacts to regulated waters and wetlands.
Funding can support project design, permitting, construction, and monitoring. Applicants first submit a conceptual proposal identifying the site, proposed wetland acreage, requested funding, and credits to be generated. Only conceptual proposals approved by the Council may proceed to a full proposal.
